Within SSE we have a large number of opportunities for engineering graduates across our Thermal Energy, Transmission, Distribution, Renewables, Enterprise Utilities, Energy Solutions Group and Customer businesses.
Please do take some time to find out about our different businesses to learn about the exciting projects and innovations we are working on.
Where will I be based?
Our Engineering Programmes are based right across the UK and Ireland, predominantly working from one of our key locations which are Glasgow, Perth, Ferrybridge, Aberdeen, Inverness, Dublin, Reading, Leeds and Egham. Due to the rotational nature of our programmes, you should be willing to move around to get the best possible learning and development opportunities.
What training & development will I get?
Depending on the role / business area you decide to join, you will get support from a dedicated Graduate Programme Manager, experienced business mentor, relevant training and development, and where applicable the opportunity to study for professional qualifications and even engineering chartership through our partnerships with IMECHE, ICE and the IET.
What do I need to apply?
We’re delighted to accept applications from students and graduates who have a minimum of a 2:2 BEng in either Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Materials or Energy-related degree. For some roles within our Thermal business we will also accept a degree in a similar or related subject such as Chemical, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Business Studies, or Building Services Engineering degree. For our Energy Solutions Group roles, you’ll ideally have an MEng or a minimum of a 2:2 BEng in mechanical, electrical, building services or energy and sustainability discipline, along with related work or project experience. Regardless of whether you’re an undergraduate or a master’s student, you’ll need to be flexible, resilient and committed to developing your current and future career with us.
