Our recruitment process is designed to select the best people for the roles, and to identify those who are most likely to complete the programme successfully.
If you’re interested in an SSE Apprenticeship or Trainee Engineering Programme, the first thing you must do is apply by the 15th March 2020 deadline. Following this you can expect:
- An invitation to take part in online testing.
- Successful candidates will then be invited to a half day assessment centre at one of our regional UK locations in April.
- We’ll aim to let you know the outcome within two weeks of attending an assessment centre. Successful candidates will receive a verbal offer by telephone.

Research, research, research
We don’t expect any specialist knowledge but a solid understanding of who we are and what we do will help. Look at current issues and news surrounding the energy industry and arm yourself with some knowledge.
Remember the seven key strengths we’re looking for
Drive, Resilience, Learning Agility, Safety, Social Adaptability, Collaboration and Resilience. Anticipate that these will form a big part of the interview process and think about times you’ve displayed these qualities.
Practice first impressions
It’s the one thing that all interviews have in common. You’ll always have to introduce yourself. Ask a trusted friend, family member or teacher to help you nail that first impression.
