Project information

Seabank Power Station in Severnside (near Bristol) is operated by Seabank Power Ltd (SPL) of which SSE is a 50% stakeholder. The gas-fired power station is currently made up of Seabank 1 and Seabank 2. SSE is now proposing to extend the plant with two additional CCGTs in a project known as Seabank 3.

We propose the development of two additional high efficiency combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT) with a combined capacity of up to 1,400MW integrating with existing gas and electricity transmission infrastructure. We anticipate that these new units will run in parallel with the existing 1,140MW of generation capacity giving a total output for the combined Station of up to 2,500MW.
