SSE is currently constructing the 34.5MW Tievenameenta Wind Farm in Co. Tyrone, which is expected to be fully operational in 2017.
The project was granted planning permission for 15 turbines, each up to a maximum tip height of 110m. SSE has signed an agreement with Siemens for 15 2.3-93 turbines with a 63.3 metre hub height and 93 metre rotor diameter.
The green energy produced at Tievenameenta will be the equivalent of powering around 25,000* homes.
ABOUT THE PROJECT SO FAR
The planning application for the project was approved in 2013.
In 2015, Roadbridge was appointed as the principal civil contractor for the project, with the main works commencing in January 2016.
Tievenameenta Wind Farm is scheduled to be fully operational by Spring 2017.
SSE has appointed a Community Liaison Officer for the project (see contact details below) and will issue regular newsletters to keep local residents updated about the development.
