Gordonbush is a 35 turbine wind farm located around 12km north west of Brora, in Sutherland. It has been operational since June 2012.
We operate a leading community investment programme, delivering financial support to a diverse range of community projects near to our renewable developments in the UK and Ireland. Please visit our Communities page for more information.
Main construction began in Autumn 2010. The main site access road was completed in March 2011 followed by the construction of the spur roads to each of the turbine locations. Turbine component deliveries began in August 2011 and were completed in February 2012, followed by a period of testing and commissioning until the site became fully operational in June 2012. We worked closely with the local communities during construction with the aim of building Gordonbush with as little impact and disruption as possible.
In June 2015 we submitted a Section 36 application to the Scottish Government for a proposed 16 turbine extension to Gordonbush wind farm. The Gordonbush Extension project has its own dedicated webpage.
We recognise that our investments in new electricity generation benefit from the co-operation of the local community in a variety of ways, particularly during the construction phase. In recognition of this, our policy is to establish long-term funds to support community projects in areas where we are developing generation projects.
