Statement on the Paris Agreement

SSE is very disappointed that President Trump has announced that the United States is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.  It believes there is common interest across the world in minimising the increase in global average temperature and in increasing the ability to adapt to adverse impacts of climate change. It strongly supports the United Kingdom’s and Ireland’s ratifications of the Agreement and hopes that the governments of the two countries, in which its operations and investments are located, and those of other countries which have ratified the Agreement, remain united in taking action to cut carbon emissions and tackle climate change. SSE remains committed to playing its part in the transition to a low carbon economy in both the UK and Ireland.
