Providing more than energy: SSE's Sustainability Report
SSE has once again published it’s Sustainability Report alongside it’s annual report.
Our core purpose is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way, and in doing so we need to make sure our actions are ethical, responsible and balanced.
As company we have a proud heritage stretching back to hydro revolution of the 1940s and 50s, and by interacting with the people and organisations that have an interest in SSE, we can make sure we are guiding SSE in the right direction for the long-term.
Key highlights in 2016/17 include:
- achieving our key carbon reduction target: to halve the carbon intensity of the electricity SSE generates by 50% by 2020, from 2006 levels (600gCO2e/kWh);
- publishing SSE’s UK gender pay gap for a second year in a row, this year with a more detailed breakdown of the gender pay gap within different business areas; and
- SSE’s £9.3bn and €779m contribution to the UK and Irish economies – with 2016/17 representing the largest contribution SSE has made to the Scottish economy since it started measuring its economic contribution six years ago.
Feedback on the report is encouraged and is very welcome. Please get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any comments or queries.
