Scottish tennis fans to face Andy Murray's serve thanks to SSE

SSE gives Scottish tennis fans the chance to face Andy Murray’s serve thanks to unique simulator experience, with one winning the chance to face Andy’s serve in person at The SSE Hydro for Andy Murray Live, presented by SSE.

As Wimbledon fever grips the nation, SSE is giving Scottish tennis fans the chance to pit their wits against Andy Murray’s serve.

SSE presents…You’ve Been Served is a unique simulator experience that gives plucky fans the chance to try and return the Dunblane ace’s serve. The World number two will face up to his challengers via a giant LED screen synced with a state of the art serving machine to deliver serves of up to 125kph.

Participants who successfully return serve will be entered into a prize draw for one lucky fan to face Murray’s serve for real when the former Wimbledon Champion appears at The SSE Hydro for his inaugural Andy Murray Live exhibition on Wednesday 21 September.

The You’ve Been Served installation, part of this year’s Merchant City Festival, will be open to the public at Candleriggs Square from Saturday 30 July until Sunday 7 August with fans of all ages and abilities invited to take part.

Fans can sign up for the chance to secure a slot at SSE presents…You’ve Been Served by visiting by 12:00 on Monday 18 July 2016.

SSE’s Head of Sponsorship and Reward, Colin Banks, said: “We wanted to create a unique experience for tennis fans in celebration of Andy Murray Live coming to The SSE Hydro in September. SSE presents…You’ve Been Served will give tennis enthusiasts of all ages or ability the chance to face what must be one of the most daunting sights in world sport – Andy Murray lining up to serve at you!

“Those who rise to the challenge and successfully return Andy’s serve have the chance to do it all again in person, with Andy himself, at The SSE Hydro. It’s an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime prize so I urge people to get involved and sign up early.”

Councillor Philip Braat, Chair of the Merchant City Festival Committee said: “The Merchant City Festival has won a reputation for offering a dynamic programme that animates the streets and venues of the area while attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year. SSE Presents…You’ve Been Served will add an extra dimension to this year’s outstanding programme and will be a huge attraction over the course of the Merchant City Festival. I am looking forward to seeing just how well people who take up the challenge of facing Andy Murray’s serve get on.”

The activity will act as a prelude to Andy Murray Live, presented by SSE, taking place on Wednesday 21 September at The SSE Hydro, Glasgow. The unique event was the brainchild of Murray who wanted to build a legacy tennis event in the UK whilst raising valuable funds for two charities.

The City of Glasgow will play host to this new event where the evening will feature a Singles and Doubles match with all profits going to local Glasgow charity, ’Young People’s Futures’ and Unicef, the world’s leading children’s organisation, of which Murray is a UK Ambassador. The former Wimbledon and US Open Champion and current Olympic gold medal holder will play Gael Monfils, the flamboyant Frenchman in the Singles. For the Doubles, Andy will be joined by his brother, World Number One Doubles Player, Jamie, to play against Monfils and British Tennis icon, Tim Henman.

SSE is proud to do more for customers who can benefit from a range of brilliant competitions around the event through  SSE Reward - fans should head to for full details or to sign up for exclusive benefits and offers.
