Dunmaglass team roll up their sleeves to give Gorthleck a helping hand
Gorthleck playpark recently had a revamp from the Dunmaglass wind farm site team as part of SSE’s Be the Difference initiative.
Be the Difference gives SSE employees the chance to use up to five of their working days to help out local communities and causes close to their heart, and when Stratherrick and Foyers Community Council asked for help, the team rolled up their sleeves.
Nine members of the Dunmaglass team sanded and painted all the benches in the park as well as the two shelters and even had enough time left to clear some of the path that passes through the park.
Marianne Townsley, SSE’s Liaison Manager for Dunmaglass said: “It was a fantastic day to be outside with the team, enjoying the sunshine and helping out the local community. This playpark is a lovely area for the local children to come and play in, and it just needed a little bit of TLC to get it ready for the summer.”
Catriona Fraser, Chair of Stratherrick and Foyers Community Council, said: “Stratherrick and Foyers Community Council are delighted with the work done at the Gorthleck playpark by the SSE volunteers. All the shelters and benches look great with their new coats of paint and the path has also had a good spruce up. The community are very grateful to the SSE volunteers for their time and effort and hope that those who use the park appreciate their work. Thanks must go to all those who worked so hard in order for our community to benefit."
Our employee volunteering programme supports each of our 20,000 employees to Be the difference for a community project of their choice by taking a day away from their usual job and give a helping hand.
SSE is proud to support charities, organisations and schools, giving our time and skills to help our local communities.
