Supporting Big Energy Saving Week

Earlier this week SSE joined forces with Energy Secretary Amber Rudd MP and Citizens Advice to launch ‘Big Energy Saving Week’ at an event in London.

It was fantastic to see so many people taking an active interest in how they can save money on their energy bills. From changing lightbulbs to simply turning off appliances when not in use, for many people saving money is just a flick of a switch away.

However, many people simply aren’t aware of the savings they may be able to make, and what steps they can take to make those savings. SSE is therefore eager to work alongside DECC and Citizens Advice in raising awareness of these potential savings, as well as energy efficiency measures more generally.

Many of the customers attending the event at Maystar Community Hall in Hammersmith asked about the possible savings from the smart meter roll out and it was fantastic to have Amber Rudd MP, the UK’s Energy Secretary, on hand to address their concerns. The event was the perfect opportunity to go into the local community and provide clarity for customers, enabling them to have real confidence in how the smart meter rollout is progressing.
