We are unfortunately no longer accepting applications for our August 2016 intake of Trainee Engineers however we are hoping to launch our recruitment campaign for our August 2017 intake in December 2016. If you would like to be considered for this you are welcome to register your interest now and we will contact you when we launch our recruitment campaign at the end of the year and should you still be interested in the programme, you can complete your full application.

Recruitment process

Our aim is to have the right people in the right place at the right time, so our recruitment process is designed to select the best people for the roles, and to identify those who are most likely to complete the programme successfully. 

Positions for Trainee Engineers are only available at a selection of our sites and candidates will enhance their chance of success if they’re prepared to relocate should the necessity arise. 

Our selection process involves an application form, on-line assessments and practical tests at one of our Depots to determine if you have the appropriate skills and abilities to be an SSE Trainee Engineer. Due to the large numbers of candidates sitting assessments we may hold assessment centres regionally. You might have to travel to participate, however our team will be on hand to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have. 

If you’re successful in our assessments, the next steps will be a face to face interview with relevant business managers from one of the business areas which you are being considered for. Wherever possible, we try to arrange interviews at an office or site close to where you’ll be based.
